Mekonen - Chief Executive Officer

Mekonen has many years of experience working in welfare services and has been managing The Station Ltd. since 1998. He has qualifications in business studies, community organisation managment, mental health and drug and alcohol counselling.Most of his experience has been spent working with homeless people in crisis accommodation and medium term supported accommodation.

     
 

Graciela – Team Leader

Graciela has been working at The Station Ltd since January 2000. In her role, Graciela co-ordinates the different functions within the Centre and provides support to both staff and clients. During her time at The Station Ltd Graciela has taken on training in various areas such as mental health and drug and alcohol treatment. Graciela has a certificate on general counselling and a Diploma in Sexual Health Counselling from The Australian College of Sexual Health Physicians. She also completed a Bachelor of Social Science degree majoring in Sociology at the University of New England.

     
 

Richard – Welfare Worker

Richard joined The Station in 2008. He has a background in accounting and following this worked in crisis accommodation whilst comlpeting a Certificate IV in Community Work. His role involves dealing with day to day issues and providing support to our service users to help create a friendly, safe and welcoming environment. Richard also contributes to self care and basic needs services through encouragement and education.

     
 

Heather – Mental Health Worker

Heather has been part of the team since January 2009. Her role includes focusing on complex needs and the promotion and understanding of Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol issues, as well as providing support, counselling and crisis intervention. Heather studied Psychology at Macquarie University and has completed training focusing on mental health, drug and alcohol treatment, dual dignosis and suicide intervention.

     
 

Maria – Housing Support Worker

In her role focuses on supporting service users to obtain accommodation. Maria has a Diploma in Community Services and has completed training in Alcohol, Tobbaco and other Drugs. Maria has experience as an advocate provdiding support for refugees at Villawood Detention Centre, and working with SLASA, the Spanish and Latin American association for social assistance, helping migrant support groups.

     
 

Jackie – Housing Support Worker

Jackie joined The Station in 2008. She has a Diploma in Community Welfare Work and has experience working in Women's crisis accommodation and with The Spanish and Latin American Association for Social Assistance. Jackie also has previous experience as a support worker with homeless and unemployed people in Sydney's inner west. Jackie's role at The Station includes providing housing case management, advocating on behalf of clients and providing assistance with living skills.
